Aitutaki

Well here we still are in Aitutaki awaiting a weather window to sail away---it is not looking promising for at least another week so we are almost residents!!! The anchorage is safe and there is no charge for being here so it could be worse. The supply ship arrived so there is now fuel and potatoes and island life continues.
We did have a lovely day the other day so took the dingy out to one of the motus to explore. It was lovely and the nesting red tailed tropic birds were worth the trip. We did snorkel and see the giant clams--they are introducing them from Australia--the locals have eaten all of the native ones. They are the same as the brightly coloured ones we found in French Polynesia and they are trying to reintroduce them again but I fear they will meet the same fate.
We are not sure where we will head next or where as the weather is very confusing but I am sure we will be able to leave towards New Zealand some time next week
